Margaret Mead

Dona Donato - President

Dona co-founded Giggling Gorilla Productions with a passion for wildlife, conservation and holistic living. She brings with her 15 years experience in the marketing and special event industries where she has produced numerous large-scale corporate and multi-day shows. She has also produced dozens of corporate videos and brings her excitement and talent for production to the television / media side of the business. In addition to her role with Giggling Gorilla Productions, Dona is widely sought after as a live event producer / director.

Kerry Zurier - Vice President

Kerry began her career in the non-profit sector.  At the age of 22, she co-founded the Telluride Chamber of Commerce.  She then went on act as Director for MEND (Mother’s Embracing Nuclear Disarmament).  Her most important achievement at this time was creating and facilitating two important U.S./Soviet exchanges of mothers and children.

Since 1989, Kerry has consulted to hundreds of organizations in the public sector in the areas of development and fundraising, board development, strategic planning, staffing, goal setting, budgeting, team effectiveness, leadership, management, conflict resolution, coaching, motivating, and performance.  In addition to consulting, Kerry has raised over US$28 Million for various non-profit organizations.

Kerry’s passion is to support businesses, organizations and individuals in designing and creating thriving personal and professional lives.  She is a champion at working toward the creation and implementation of projects that move them toward increased productivity, profitability and fulfillment, while decreasing conflicts.

Michael Kobert - Treasurer

Michael is passionate about wildlife and the natural world. He fell in love with animals at the age of four when he met his first snake and has been obsessed with creatures of every description ever since. Michael spent over twenty-two years working with both the San Francisco and San Diego Zoos. He is a respected professional zoo keeper and animal manager as well as an accomplished animal trainer. His resume includes more than 400 types of animals, ranging from the smallest species of snakes to the largest cats. Michael ended his zoo career as the Animal Care Manager (ACM) for the San Diego Wild Animal Park. As the ACM, Michael was responsible for sixty-three staff members, an operating budget of $3.5 million, 800 acres of displays and more than 2,100 animals. With his extensive knowledge, personable style and witty sense of humor, he has been featured on television programs such as Animal Planet's The Keepers (with appearances in every episode), and the Nickelodeon Network. He has also acted as a spokesperson for various television news interviews as well as video tours for the Zoological Society of San Diego.

Ricky Ray Prickett - Secretary

Ricky Ray has been an animal lover for as long as he can remember, growing up around animals on his grandmother’s farm in Wyoming. He knew that he has always had a special connection to animals and wanted to be a part of something to make people aware of treating animals more humanely. 

With more than 25 years of work in the non-profit and travel industry, Rick intends to use his various experiences in marketing and promotions, public relations, event planning and management, and operations to assist Atira in meeting its goals and objectives. He plans to use his experiences with clients such as Giggling Gorilla Productions, Universal Studios, Dick Clark Productions, Association for Higher Education and Disability, Mainstream Magazine, San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau and Alternative Communication Services, to further support and provide guidance and direction where needed.

Rick hopes that by his involvement with Atira and the great work that they do, more and more people will be educated on the plights of animals and awareness made of the value and incredible importance of animals and their rights and role in the bigger picture of humanity, and Atira’s ability to be their voice. He supports Atira’s mission and hopes that his role will make a difference in helping educate, encourage, and train the future care takers of this world, so that we will always be able to see and experience all of these incredible creatures.

Mary Becker-Rowe - Board Member

Mary is a passionate defender of wildlife and the environment.  Using her 20 years as an elementary school teacher she is able to take real life experiences with the natural world into the classroom.  Those experiences help youngster understand the importance of conservation and their role as the planets' next stewards.
